It’s been months now but I still think back to my introduction to the pod coffee maker. It was Christmas morning and I opened my present from my sister. Inside was the Keurig B60 single serve coffee maker along with 50 pods in assorted flavors.
I would like to tell you that I was overjoyed to get such an amazing gift, but to be honest I wasn’t really sure what it was. I saw the word “coffee maker” on the box, but where was the glass carafe? And what the h*** were the little plastic cups for?
So my sister took me into the kitchen and taught me all about my first pod coffee maker. She took it out of the box, plugged it in, put one of those plastic cups in the holder (I later found out these were K-Cups) and filled it with water. But when she put a single cup under the spout, I had to say something. I know it was Christmas. I should be grateful for the gift, but did she think I was going to spend all morning in the kitchen making coffee? There were 10 people at our house!
Little did I know. It amazes me now that I didn’t understand. She pushed the button, and less than a minute later I was holding a steaming cup of coffee. Ok, maybe this wasn’t so bad after all. Then I took my first sip.
Oh my! It was better than anything I had ever tasted! Well, that may be an exaggeration, but it was REALLY good! I think my sister finally got the reaction she was hoping for!
Since that day, I’ve been hooked on the pod coffee maker. I’ve found that there are many different makes and models. I love my Keurig, but it might not be the right choice for everyone. There are other machines I hope to try someday, but my Keurig is still working well so I’ll wait until it needs to be replaced. Until then, I’ll keep up my research.
